Absorption Media Specs

ACTIVATED CARBON

GCLT-CBV-830L and 1240L :
Two coal based virgin grade activated carbons, in 8x30, and 12x40 sieve sizes. Used for environmental applications where groundwater is processed and water quality (especially iron content and biological activity) is suspect. Typical applications include the treatment of VOCs dissolved in water.

GLCT-CBV-41OV and 4mm Pelletized:
Coal based virgin grade activated carbons. 4x10 granular and 4 millimeter pelletized sizes. Used for the absorption of VOCs in soil vapor extraction systems and other air streams, oil and gas processing, and on-site reactivation. Large sieve sizes translate into very low restrictive pressures.

GLCT-CNBV- 48V and 410V:
4x8 and 4x10 sieve sizes respectively. Coconut based activated carbon for vapor treatment applications. Used for the adsorption of VOCs in soil vapor extraction systems and other air streams. Larger sieve sizes translate into very low restrictive pressures, while smaller sieve sizes are even more efficient as filters.

GLCT SPECIALTY MEDIA

TriCarb:
A select black activated charcoal which is able to remove heavy metals from aqueous solutions such as contaminated groundwater or industrial process water. It has proven successful in the removal of lead, zinc and other toxic metals. Tricarb removes metals by two distinct routes. The first is by physically filtering the metals due to the physical structure of a carbon matrix surrounding a core of hydroxyapatite and the second is by chemical                      interaction (ion exchange) of the hydroxyapatite with the metals.

GLCT-Organoclay:
This absorbent is a modified filter media composed of designer clay and anthracite. It is capable of removing emulsified oils, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and heavy metals. It is most often used as a pretreatment protection for carbon beds, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, air strippers and membranes, or in mixed bed applications to deal with oil and                                  grease constituents in complex waste streams.

GLCT H2Solutions:
A specialty media capable of treating hydrogen sulfide (H2S), mercaptans, VOCs and just plain noxious odors. This media is a mixture of a specially engineered material that reacts with, and chemically removes, H2S from the air stream. It also contains 4x10 activated carbon for the removal of other odor causing organics. Together these materials create a very cost effective treatment solution.

Anthracite Coal:
The anthracite coal shall have a specific gravity of 1.45, a uniformity coefficient of 0.5, and an effective size of between 0.95mm and 1.05mm. Ninety-five percent shall be larger or equal to 1.0mm. The anthracite media shall be clean and free from thin, scaly pieces, and shall have a calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate hardness of 1.
